A trip to Chicago and Sadaf’s second anatomy ultrasound
A few pictures from our trip to Chicago to visit Sadaf’s dad’s side of the family. We stayed with Daddy’s brother (Chacha) and sister-in-law (Chachi) at their home in Skokie, which has become an impromptu daycare for their grandson (Sadaf’s cousin once-removed and Daddy’s great-nephew), six month old Sami. We had a lot of fun playing with him and were very appreciative that he let us practice on him in anticipation of our own baby arriving.
Daddy and the babies are inseparable. A sign of things to come…
We had beautiful weather while in Chicago: sunny every day with temperatures in the 70s or low 80s. We made sure to do all the touristy stuff like seeing the Bean and going up to the 103rd floor observation deck of Sears Tower. We also did a river boat tour through downtown to admire the buildings and learn about the architectural history of the city.
While Chicago was a lot of fun, it was nice to come back home. I think the doggies were also excited for us to be home.
The day after we got back from Chicago, Sadaf had a follow up anatomy ultrasound for them to check a few things they didn’t get a good look at with the first anatomy scan. Thankfully, baby girl is still doing well. She weighed almost two pounds, which is about five days worth of growth more than her gestational age. We got a good look at her nose and lips, and she had a strong heart beat.
Sadaf can feel the baby moving pretty much constantly now, and baby loves nothing more than doing kicks and flips while Sadaf is falling asleep. Last night, for the first time, her kicks were strong enough that I could feel them when I put my hand on Sadaf’s tummy. It’s crazy to think that she will only get bigger and her kicks stronger as we go through these final three months.
